Far from human civilization, there was a beautiful pond where three fishes lived happily. Their names were Anagatavidhata, Pratyutpannamati, and Yadbhavishya. As some fishermen were passing by the pond one of them wondered, “Hey friends, we have never seen this pond before. Do we? And it seems to be full of fish also, that’s good for us. It is now evening what we can do is to come here tomorrow morning and we will catch many fishes all together. We will be able to earn a very handsome amount with this. “And all of the fishermen agreed with this proposal and left home.
Anagatavidhata, one of the fish heard whatever fisherman said. This fish got to know about the danger in time and didn’t wait for a moment and immediately organized a meeting of his fish friends. And discussed everything he witnessed to alert them from the coming threat. “Haven’t you heard what the fishermen were saying? It was sound and clear. We all are in trouble, we can’t sit idle like this. We have to move out of this pond tonight itself. As the wise men have said weak men should flee when a strong man invades or seek refuge in a fort. There is no other option or any other alternative.”
Anagatavidhata was very alarmed and concerned about the safety of all of his friends living in the pond. He said, “The fisherman is surely going to come tomorrow and I think it will be very right for us to move from here and we shouldn’t be staying here for a moment anymore.
“What you are saying I feel it’s true and I am surely with you. I endorse your suggestion,” said Pratyutpannamati agreeing with Anagatavidhata. He further said “I must acknowledge you with the fact that those who are afraid of foreign lands and those who are bound to their soil will die in their own country. He who can prosper anywhere does not die in his own land clinging to sentiment.”
Yadbhavishya was intently listening all of this and began laughing like a maniac loudly thinking what Anagatavidhata was proposing to leave this pond is truly meaningless and a wasteful idea. Because his perception was something else on this matter. Yadbhavishya said, “I don’t agree with both of you on this because your plans are not good. Why should we leave this pond, think deeply and recognize the fact that this is ancient home of our forefathers, we belong from here only and just because the fishermen have evil intentions we should leave this pond? It’s rubbish. If it is destined to be like this, then I must tell you we cannot escape death even if we go elsewhere. I believe everything is in the hands of God, we cannot change his rules. You cannot dispose of what he proposes. God’s blessings are the most important, Without his blessings, people will die even if they have protection. With his blessings, nobody can kill them even if they do not have protection of any kind.
The other two fishes weren’t able to convince him in the end. So they decided better to go from there, as per plan the other two fish left the pond on time. Coming the next day, the fisherman took a big catch of fish in the pond. And unfortunately, Yadbhavishya was one among them.
The female pheasant resumed, “That is why I told you that those who foresee the problem and those who deal with the problem when it arises are always victors and those who trust their luck are the losers.” The female pheasant was flustered and sad with his husband’s stupid act.
Her husband asked agitated, “Is that mean you think I am as stupid as that Yadbhavishya? Wait and see just what can I do. What capability I possess. I will siphon off all the water in the sea and leave him ultimate dry.”
His wife thought what a foolish thing my husband has got to say. Doesn’t he understand that we birds are weak in front of this big sea and we can’t win that’s the fact? “Don’t try to settle scores with the Sea. It will do no good for you. A weak man’s anger will hurt him in the end.” she tried to put some sense in his head.
The male pheasant was angry, he replied, “Don’t discourage me. Don’t you know or have never heard that those who have confidence in them can confront even stronger men. Doesn’t the lion who is small in size slash the crown of the mighty elephant? Doesn’t a small wick repel darkness? Size doesn’t matter the reality is who has courage is the stronger person. You have to just wait and see how I will siphon off all the water in the Sea and make him dry.”
The female pheasant thought her husband has made a wrong assumption about his strength that he himself alone can siphon all the sea waters and make it dry. But that’s impossible. She tried to convince him by saying, “But Sea is very large beyond even our imaginations, hundreds of rivers flow into the sea. We both know your beak is just as big as a drop of the sea. How can you consume all the water in the Sea? That’s not possible so please Stop this tall talk instantly.”
“Not to despair is to win the Goddess of Wealth. I have an iron beak. I will toil day and night to siphon off all the water.”The male pheasant replied.
The wife was getting frustrated minute by minute with this nonsense claim made by his husband. So she said, “Okay if you want to engage the Sea, call right now all of your friends from everywhere and try to do the job together. When they are united, it is difficult to defeat even a band of weak men. Even blades of slender grass can bind an elephant if they are woven into a rope. Haven’t you heard this story of how a sparrow, a woodpecker, a fly, and a frog together killed a giant elephant?”
“Let me know how they did it,” asked the male pheasant curiously.
And after that, The wife began telling the story.
